César Altur was born in Valencia. He started with oboe at the age of 11, and after graduating from the Superior Conservatory of Music Joaquín Rodrigo of Valencia, he continued his studies at the Superior Music School of Queen Sofia with Prof. Hansjörg Schellenberger to improve his oboe playing, at the same time he got to develop his musical experience working with famous conductors and soloists such as James Judd, Luciano Berio, Jordi Savall, Klaus Thunemann etc. In 2003, he had the opportunity to be a part of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra as an oboe solo, working with masters: Ingo Metzmacher, and Pierre Boulez, giving performances in many important halls of the world: Musikverein, Konzerthaus, Usher Hall Edinburgh, Opera City and Santury Hall in Tokyo… and having classes with great oboists: Albrecht Mayer, Juan-Manuel Luminaries, and Maurice Bourgue. In the same year, he got his first job as a professional musician in the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, and later on in the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla y León. In 2006, he won the position of oboe solo in the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona Opera House). Since then, César has focused his musical activities based in Barcelona. Apart from his job, he didn’t stop to collaborate with other important orchestras such as oboe solo: Scala Opera House Milán, the National Symphony Orchestra of Spain, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra… All these brought him experiences working with the most outstanding conductors: Gustavo Dudamel, Riccardo Chailly, Daniel Barenboim, Sir. Andrew Da- vis, Fabio Luisi ect. , And the greatest musicians such as Plácido Domingo, Joyce Didonato, Leonidas Kavakos, Khatia Buniatishvili, Renée Fleming, Jessye Norman…
