George Hariton attended the courses of the “Octav Băncilă” Music School and “George Enescu” College of Music. During his study period, he obtained 10 prizes at the National Olympics and Student Festivals. After his graduation, he became a member of the Symphonic Orchestras of Sibiu, Ploiesti, and the Europa Symphony Orchestra. In 1991 he founded the “ARSIS” Trio, carrying out a rich cham- ber activity: more than 250 chamber concerts and participations on radio and television shows. Since 1999, he has been a member of the “Fagotissimo” Bassoon Quartet, with which he carried out several tours in Italy, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Hungary, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Greece. He collaborated with many other chamber groups, such as the “Voces” Quartet, giving concerts both in Romania and abroad (Koblenz – Germany – Chamber Music International Festival in 2004).
As a soloist, he performed in concerts in Romania and abroad, in the company of some conductors such as Paul Nadler – USA, Misha Katz –France, Michele Santorsola –Italy, Gh. Costin, etc. Since 1996, he has been a member of the Bassoon International Association “Fou de Bassoon”, giving recitals, concerts, conferences, and masterclasses (Angouleme, Bordeaux, La Rochel –France). In 1997, he organized, together with this Association the first Romanian Bassoon International Festival “The Fou de Bassoon Days in Romania” (4 editions). As a conductor, he conducted orchestras of Iasi, Bacau, Vidin (Bulgaria), Botosani, Arad, Pitesti, the Orchestra of the Bucharest College, the Winds ensemble of the “Moldova” Philharmonics, and the “Camerata Anima” Orchestra. In 2018, he received his PhD in music with the distinction Summa cum Laude for the thesis “Tradition and Modernity in the Sonatas and suites for Bassoon by Victor Bruns”. George Hariton has the Honour of participating for the second consecutive year in the educational/cultural project MUSICA KRONSTADT.
