Sorin Crudu begins his oboe studies at «Octav Bancila» Music High School in Iasi, under the guidance of Prof. Mihaita Vasile and soon his talent will be rewarded with many national prizes. He continues his oboe studies at conservatories in Bern, Geneva, and Salzburg, with Prof. Matthias Arter, Prof. Roland Perrenaud, and Prof. Gunther Passin. Sorin started his orchestral career as the first oboist at Koblenz Symphony Orchestra in Germany. Other renowned orchestras where he played as principal oboist are the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Opera Orchestra in England, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra in Norway, the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatro Reale «San Carlo» in Naples, Italy, Mantua Chamber Orchestra, Italy, Musik-kollegium Winterthur, etc. From 2023 Sorin Crudu is appointed oboe teacher at Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt, Austria, and starting with September 2024 Sorin will perform as principal oboist at «La Monnaie» Opera House in Brussels, Belgium. He had the pleasure of collaborating with famous conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Bernard Haitink, Daniel Harding, Charles Dutoit, Nicola Luisotti, Pavo Jarvi, Ingo Metzmacher, Nello Santi, Heinz Holliger, etc. He won the 2nd prize at the Citta di Chieri Italy competition, the Ferlendis Prize at the G. Ferlendis Italy competition, the 2nd prize at the G. Dima international oboe competition in Cluj, the 1st prize at the Virtual Oboe Competition. In 2013, he was in the semifinals of the international oboe competition in Muri, Switzerland, and in 2009 he was awarded at the Kiefer Hablitzel competition in Switzerland.
