Teodor Țîrlea

Principal flutist of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra from Bucharest

In 2016, Teodor Țîrlea (b. 1984) became the principal flutist of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Sweden, and simultaneously, from October 2022 he has been employed as the principal flutist at “George Enescu” Philharmonic in Bucharest. Over the years, Teodor worked as a principal flutist at the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Komische Oper Berlin, Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and the Norwegian Opera Orchestra in Oslo. He also collaborated with several renowned orchestras: Stockholm Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra del Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, Deutsche Oper Berlin, etc., and enjoyed collaborations with famous conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Christoph Eschenbach, Ivan Fischer. His artistic training began under the guidance of Professor Vasile Gocan and his father – Florin Ţîrlea, and after graduating from high school he continued his studies with Jean-Claude Gérard and Davide Form- Pisano at Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Before starting his professional career as an orchestral musician, Teodor was a member of the “Accademia Teatro alla Scala” in Milan, participated in the Pacific Music Festival Saporro (Japan), the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany) and the Festival of Music Zermatt (Switzerland), together with the renowned “Scharoun” ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic. As a soloist, Teodor has performed on the stages of the Philharmonics in Norrköping, Iasi, Bacău, and Cluj-Napoca. Being a fervent supporter of high-quality musical education, Teodor, together with his family, founded in 2012 the “Ars Cantus Music Training Center” – a private music school, in his hometown, Cluj-Napoca. Also, since 2019, Teodor has held master classes both in the country – “Musica Kronstadt” Brașov, “Ars Cantus” Cluj, University of Music Bucharest, Faculty of Music Timișoara, and abroad – “Piediluco Festival” Italy.
